.1. Didactic Portions
During the didactic sessions, trainees will have multiple opportunities to engage in process-oriented discussions. Instructors will regularly pause for questions, check-ins, and reflections, encouraging trainees to share their thoughts and reactions to the material. This interactive approach is designed to foster a supportive learning environment where trainees can process content in real time, both individually and as a group. Additionally, instructors will be available for brief individual follow-up after each didactic session, should trainees need further clarification or support.
Key Elements of the Feedback Process
1. Regular Check-Ins: Trainers should schedule regular feedback sessions—such as weekly or bi-weekly meetings—to discuss a Trainee’s strengths, areas for improvement, and progress toward training objectives.
2. Clear and Constructive Feedback: Feedback should be both specific and actionable. Trainers should highlight what the Trainee is doing well and provide concrete suggestions on how to improve. For example:
o “You’ve demonstrated excellent communication skills during role-play scenarios.”
o “To enhance your performance, try to ask more open-ended questions during client interactions.”
2. Practicum Portions
As previously described, practicum sessions will include guided experiential activities with immediate feedback. Supervisors and facilitators will observe, provide targeted input, and create space for trainees to process their experiences both during and after each activity. Structured debriefs are built into each practicum module to ensure every trainee’s process is heard and supported. This occurs as we check in as a group.
3. Consultation Portions
During consultation sessions, trainees have the opportunity to discuss clinical cases, personal reactions, and ongoing questions in a confidential and collaborative setting. These sessions are intentionally designed to support both the practical application of skills and the emotional/process needs of trainees as they integrate new concepts into their clinical work. Facilitators will check in with each trainee to ensure their process is being addressed and supported throughout these sessions.
