Course Description: This course provides a comprehensive exploration of the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) protocol, with a focus on its fundamental principles and methodologies. Students will learn to critically evaluate and apply various methodologies for target sequence treatment planning within EMDR. The course also emphasizes the practical application of writing SMART goals, objectives, and progress notes, with opportunities for peer interaction and feedback on documenting within the 8-phase protocol. Finally, students will learn to document all 8 phases of the EMDR protocol, demonstrating their ability to adhere to protocol in their documentation. Objective: Internalize fundamental principles and methodologies essential for effectively operating within the EMDR protocol.

Discussion Points: Overview of EMDR therapy and its significance in addressing adverse life experiences.

10:30 AM - 11:15 AM: Target Sequence Treatment Planning
Objective: Critically evaluate and apply various methodologies for target sequence treatment planning in EMDR.
Materials: Video: "The Golden Thread: Your Key To Complete Documentation" by T. Notes (YouTube)
Discussion Points: Forms and applications of target sequence planning.
Additional Resource: Michelle Morissey’s "3 M’s of EMDR" (45 Min).

11:15 AM - 12:00 PM: Writing SMART Goals and Progress Notes
Objective: Demonstrate clinical application of writing SMART goals, objectives, and progress notes with peers.
Materials: PCL Checklist
Activity: Group exercise to practice writing SMART goals and progress notes.
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch Break

1:00 PM - 1:30 PM: Understanding Documentation Practices
Objective: Acquire comprehensive knowledge regarding the contrast between progress notes and psychotherapy notes.
Materials: EMDR Target Overview, EMDR Target Tracking Form, Adverse Life Experience and Resourcing Tracking Sheet (emailed prior to session).
Discussion Points: Ethical documentation practices in therapy settings.

1:30 PM - 4:00 PM: Documenting the 8 Phases of EMDR
Objective: Document the 8 phases of EMDR and demonstrate the ability to document within the protocol.
Activity: Interactive session to practice documentation skills based on the EMDR protocol.
Duration: 2.5 Hours

  • Kathy Couch

    Kathy founded Rewired360, a EMDR Consulting/Training business and Willow Creek Counseling, an EMDR therapy business. Certifications are held with EMDRIA as a EMDR Certified Therapist/Approved Consultant, and a Fellow in Thanatology with the Association of Death Education and Counseling, and is a Level 2 trained Gottman Institute clinician.

    Kathy has 10 years of teaching experience at Boise State University, with specializations in in program evaluation, research and small business development. Specialties include areas of death, grief, bereavement, couples, and has experience with addiction, child welfare, probation and parole, TF-CBT, substance abuse and domestic violence. She regularly provides EMDR and Couples Intensives and lives in Twin Falls, Idaho with her family daughter, twin boys and family dogs.

On Demand Training Requirements

Participants will be required to view all recorded videos, pass a post-test, and complete an evaluation at the end of the course. The passing rate is 85% for the post-test and can be taken repeatedly. There are no refunds for on Demand Services. The customer is solely responsible for purchases.

Registration Policies:

Refund Policy: There are no refunds for on demand products. All sales are considered final.

Documents: You will be emailed prior to the training with additional instructions. You will have access to your on demand portal with all the tools, resources and information necessary for the training.

Grievances

Please contact kathy@rewired360.com. It is our policy that you must first attempt to resolve the concern with the trainer. In the event you are unable to do so, your grievance will be reviewed by a third party. Grievances must be submitted within 3-5 days of completion of the training.

Cancellations

In the event a cancellation should occur, we will gladly refund the full amount minus a $30 service fee up until 30 days prior to the onset of the training. In the event cancellation occurs after 30 days prior to the training, we are unable to provide refunds, credits or accommodations due to the nature of the time investment in the training. Please be mindful of your electronic access to the session, as we are unable to assist with troubleshooting during the training, including issues with WiFi. If you require assistance with translation services, please know we are only able to offer the sessions in the English language. All cancellations must be requested in writing.
